GOOD EDUCATION

Education

Every child, regardless of where they grow up, deserves a good education. To that end, we support increased investment in our public school system – a qualified teacher in every classroom, smaller class sizes, pre-Kindergarten classes, increased funding for after-school programs, and safe and sound buildings.
We support the Campaign for Fiscal Equity’s effort to make New York live up to its duty under the state constitution to provide a solid public education to every child in the state.

The Working Families Party also supports making quality higher education more accessible to students of all income levels. We oppose increases to SUNY and CUNY tuition, and believe TAP and other forms of tuition assistance for low-income students should be preserved and expanded. In the long run, we believe New York should aim for a free, universal, high-quality system of public higher education.
